SBY Exhibits “Kontras” Painting For Peace And Harmony

The 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) exhibited his latest painting entitled "Kontras" at the launch of the music video for the environmental song entitled "Save Our World" in Jakarta, Tuesday. 

"The theme is a contrast. I dedicate it to a humanitarian mission," he said. 

SBY said that the painting depicts two sides of world life today, namely violence due to war and the importance of making peace with nature. 

He explained that the left side of the painting entitled "Stop War" is dedicated entirely to a humanitarian mission. 

The painting conveys a clear message about the importance of ending conflicts that cause extreme suffering and innocent lives. 

"Although I am a soldier, 30 years a member of the military, but I love peace. In my opinion, if peace can be, why war," he said. 

Meanwhile, the right side of the painting carries a different but complementary message, namely making peace with nature. 

According to him, the right side of the painting entitled "Peace with Nature" depicts the beauty of the earth as God's creation that must be protected. 

He hopes that the theme of “Contrast” from both paintings can be a moral reflection for all parties. 

“If we look at the painting, we have to choose whether we want a world full of war and violence, or a world of peace for our children. That is the essence,” said SBY.
