Director Bramsky has teamed up with Indonesian artists to star in the short film #KitaBerkebaya. But Bramsky didn't just any artists; they included those who frequently wear kebaya in various activities and events, both nationally and internationally. These include Dian Sastrowardoyo, Maudy Ayunda, Maudy Koesnaedy, Tara Basro, Eva Celia, Rayhanu, and Titi Radjo Padmaja, Andien, and Luthesa. At least 250 Indonesian women from various regional communities are also involved in this short film. The short film #KitaBerkebaya celebrates National Kebaya Day, which falls on July 24th. Bramsky said the film provides a space for women to express their opinions. "This short film is a space where women can express their opinions not through shouting, but through the threads and fabrics they wear with confidence," said director Bramsky, as quoted by Antara. This film, initiated by the Bakti Budaya Djarum Foundation, aims to convey to Indonesian women that the kebaya is not just clothing but also a life story from time to time, as part of the nation's identity. Renitasari Adrian, Program Director of Bakti Budaya Djarum Foundation, hopes that this film will bring the kebaya back into everyday life. "The kebaya exudes elegance but also reflects the resilience and gentleness of Indonesian women. We want the kebaya to be reintroduced into everyday life, not just as a cultural symbol," said Renitasari Adrian, Program Director of Bakti Budaya Djarum Foundation. She hopes that the younger generation will not hesitate to wear the kebaya in their daily lives, as it allows for a cool and contemporary look by pairing it with contemporary clothing.
