The Lively Celebration Of Jakarta's 498th Anniversary, Commemorating History-Entertainment

Jakarta's 498th anniversary was lively and meaningful. Not only was it enlivened by performances by famous musicians, the Jakarta anniversary celebration stage also presented a theatrical performance depicting the long historical journey of the capital city. 

"Now is the time for us to witness, this is an extraordinary offering, the journey of Jakarta to become a meaningful city for us, Indonesia and the world. Accept the offering of 'Jakarta: One City, Many Worlds'," said hosts Oky Lukman and Rubon Onsu, at the celebration of Jakarta's 498th anniversary at Lapangan Banteng, on Sunday (22/6/2025) yesterday. 

The audience was invited to witness important chapters in Jakarta's history, starting from the Sunda Kelapa port era, the arrival of the Portuguese and VOC, to the Proclamation of Independence and Jakarta's transformation into a global city. 

Meanwhile, the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, who was present at the event, said that Jakarta continues to move forward, not forgetting history but still improving for the future. 

"Hopefully in 2029, all Jakarta residents will be able to get 100% clean water. And we will work hard for that," he said. 

The series of peak night events were also enlivened by performances by Adikara Fardy, Andien Aisyah, and the idol group JKT48. The atmosphere changed to emotion when Juicy Luicy performed songs with a heartbreak theme, before returning to being boisterous with enthusiasm when JKT48 performed a number of their favorite songs. 

The peak night of the Jakarta Anniversary celebration transformed Lapangan Banteng into a collaborative performance stage. Betawi cultural elements such as Ondel-ondel, Tanjidor, Rebana, Jawara, and the Cokek Dance enlivened the event. 

It didn't stop there, the performance of the Wali Band and the evening fireworks party closed the excitement of the peak celebration of Jakarta's 498th Anniversary. The fireworks party immediately decorated the Jakarta sky 

Residents who were about to go home also seemed enthusiastic about the fireworks party. They shouted when the fireworks lit up and responded to each other. Not a few children also jumped for joy while enjoying the moment.
