Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, Giring Ganesha Djumaryo hopes that Europe on Screen 2025 can be utilized by Indonesian film industry players. According to him, the event is an opportunity to market and develop Indonesian short films. "The Short Film Pitching Project program at Europe on Screen is a good opportunity to market and develop Indonesian short films which is important to support," said Giring. The European Union Film Festival in Indonesia, Europe on Screen (EoS) 2025 itself was officially held from 13 to 22 June 2025 in seven major cities in Indonesia. The seven cities are Jakarta, Bandung, Denpasar, Medan, Surabaya, Sidoarjo and Yogyakarta. A total of 55 films from 27 European countries will be screened, featuring various genres and themes that reflect the diversity of European cinema. More than 50 percent of this year's films were directed by women, most of whom were directorial debuts. In his opening remarks, the European Union Ambassador to Indonesia Denis Chaibi said that the implementation of EoS, which is entering its 25th year, shows the strong interest of the Indonesian people in European films. "We are also proud of the festival's increasingly strong commitment to voicing inclusivity. It is proven that more than 50 percent of this year's films were directed by women, and many of them are directorial debuts," said Denis, Saturday (14/6/2025).
