Ministry Of Creative Economy Partners With MD Entertainment To Grow National Film Industry

The Ministry of Creative Economy (Ekraf) continues to strive to revive the Indonesian film industry in order to grow positive competitiveness in the international arena by collaborating with MD Entertainment. 

Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya said that the development of sub-sectors in the film industry is believed to be able to grow the industry, employment and also increase exports of quality films to the global market. 

"Ultimately, investment and exports of Indonesian films will be an added value in the national economy," said Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky through his official statement, Monday. 

He further explained that cooperation with the largest film industry in Indonesia can provide innovation through animated series produced by MD Animation through Intellectual Property (IP) with characters such as Adit Sopo Jarwo. 

"From the readiness of this character IP, we can target and determine a collaborative approach with other ministries or institutions to create promotional content for work programs, entertainment activations, or public service advertisements with existing figures," he continued. 

On his occasion, MD Entertainment CEO, Manoj Punjabi highlighted that amidst the significant achievements of the Indonesian film industry, strong collaboration is needed to address the challenges that arise and also to encourage the sustainable growth of this sub-sector. 

"We must formulate strategies, regulations, or standardization together so that there is an agreement that does not overlap. We must also understand the context of the challenges faced by film activists as a whole in order to ensure that the production process to the distribution of screen quotas is evenly distributed to various regions," said Manoj Punjabi. 

"Socialization and collaboration with the Government are very important in order to maintain the sustainability and growth of the Indonesian film industry in the future," he added. 

It is known that MD Entertainment has been a production house that has been established since 2002. Starting from the production of soap operas such as Dia, Hantu Cilik, Si Yoyo, Bawang Merah Bawang Putih, Hikmah, Siti Nurbaya, Cinta Fitri and many other titles. 

Since 2008, it has successfully expanded its production to feature films such as Ayat-Ayat Cinta which reached 3.6 million viewers and was strengthened by a horror film titled KKN in Desa Penari which reached 10 million viewers. 

Currently, MD Entertainment has several business lines including MD Animation, MD Pictures, MD Music, MD Studios, and MDA Restaurants. 

One of the growing businesses is MD Animation, through the Adit Sopo Jarwo Animation Film which has local content with a humorous concept and presents anecdotes that are relevant to society. This animated film has won the best animated film award from the 2014 Anti Corruption Film Festival and the Favorite Children's Program from the 2018 Panasonic Gobel Awards.
