Four Indonesian Films To Be Submitted To The 2025 Venice International Film Festival

Indonesia will send four films to the 2025 Venice International Film Festival, which is scheduled to take place from August 27 to September 6 in Venice, Italy. 

According to a press release from the Ministry of Culture in Jakarta, Monday (3/19/2025), Indonesian films that will be sent to the film festival include "Hair Factory Monster" or "Sleep No More" by director Edwin and "Pangku", the first work of actor Reza Rahadian as a director.?????? 

In addition, there is the film "Para Perasuk" or "Levitating" by director Wregas Bhanuteja and "The Fox King" a collaboration between Indonesian producer Yulia Evina Bhara and Malaysian producer Edmund Yeo. 

Minister of Culture Fadli Zon said that Indonesia is ready to participate in international film festivals, including the Venice International Film Festival, the oldest international film festival in the world. 

"I believe that the presence of Indonesian films on the international stage is an effective means of cultural diplomacy in introducing Indonesian culture and identity," he said. 

In an effort to strengthen international cooperation in the field of film and increase the presence of Indonesian films on the global stage, the Minister of Culture held a meeting with the Artistic Director of the Venice Film Festival Alberto Barbera. 

The meeting, which discussed Indonesia's readiness to participate in the 2025 Venice International Film Festival, was also attended by award-winning film director, screenwriter, and producer Garin Nugroho. 

The Minister of Culture said that the Indonesian government is ready to welcome opportunities for collaboration with the organizers of the Venice Film Festival, including the opportunity for Indonesia to become a focus country in the Venice Bridge Financing Market in August 2025. 

"The Ministry of Culture is ready to build long-term collaboration with the Venice Film Festival and open up opportunities for strategic cooperation to strengthen Indonesia's cultural diplomacy through cinema," he said.
