The original Malang band consisting of Yoshua Maringka, Juang Pratama and Tutus Thomson, Merah has released its first mini album (EP) entitled "North". This album is likened to the cardinal directions that tell the story of the various directions of life that each person has gone through, especially the different Merah personnel who are sometimes carried away by the wind without knowing where to go. With different characteristics, Merah has the same vision so that one cardinal direction was chosen whose symbol is upwards, namely north, with the aim of moving towards a better direction. There are 5 songs in this mini album (EP), namely Makna, Bara, Fana, Sementara and Kala (Love and Life). Each song has a story that is conveyed through the music from Merah. It took about six months to make this EP, starting from making the notes, lyrics, recording, mixing to mastering which was done at Move Records. The character of the music that leads to the Alternative genre is combined with additional instruments that make the music more luxurious. "I think all five songs are good. But for now, the one that relates to my life now is Sementara. This song tells the story of a person who questions the purpose of his life in the world, the feeling of being left behind, why good people are always thrown away, etc.," said Tutus Tomshon when contacted by RRI, Wednesday (5/14/2025). Merah hopes that these songs can be a representation for people who are confused about the direction of their lives but still have a purpose. With the hashtag #Utarakan, the band invites listeners to be able to express their hearts and choices more so that they don't keep them to themselves. Tutus said that in the future there will be plans to make a video clip, but it is still being chosen which song will be made. As for the EP promo, Merah will hold a radio tour this May and hold a release party on May 17 at Timur Terasing. The event, which will start at 6 pm, is open to the public and is free of charge.
