Saturday, 22 Mar 2025

Cultural Minister Fadli Zon stated that cinema serves as a tool for historical literacy and a catalyst for nationalistic spirit.

While attending the preview of the film "Timur," produced and starring Iko Uwais, he described this film as a prime example of how cinema can effectively foster a love for the homeland and enhance nationalism.

"Films like this not only entertain but also provide historical literacy to the younger generation. It is a creative way to introduce cultural values and the struggles of our nation," Fadli Zon remarked, as reported in a statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday. He also emphasized the significance of films centered on history and patriotism in shaping the character of the nation. "Historical and patriotic films hold immense strategic value. They not only present the historical journey of Indonesia but also reinforce the spirit of nationalism," he added.

The government continues to support the development of the Indonesian film ecosystem, particularly films that focus on historical and patriotic themes. This aligns with President Prabowo Subianto's message, advocating for more cinematic works that inspire the younger generation to appreciate the nation's history and culture.

"We are committed to supporting films that not only entertain but also educate and introduce the values of Indonesian culture. Films like 'Timur' exemplify how cinema can serve as an effective learning medium," Fadli Zon asserted. He expressed hope that in the future, there will be an increase in films addressing Indonesian historical themes, showcasing national heroes, and significant historical events that played a crucial role in the nation's struggle.

"Whether in the form of feature films, documentaries, or short films, all can serve as effective educational tools for society," he concluded.
