RS Medistra is excited to announce the launch of its cutting-edge surgical tool, the VELYS-Robotic Assisted Solution, which was officially introduced on July 9, 2024. The first surgery using this technology took place successfully on July 11, 2024, making RS Medistra the first hospital in Indonesia to perform a knee implant surgery with robotic assistance. To prepare for this groundbreaking operation, RS Medistra conducted thorough preparations, including intensive training for the doctors and medical staff involved. This step was crucial to ensure that every procedure using the Velys Robotic system runs smoothly and safely for patients. Even though this is the first time Velys Robotic has been used at RS Medistra, rest assured that the doctors performing the surgeries are highly experienced in their field. Prof. (HCUA) Nicolaas C. Budhiparama, MD, PhD (LUMC, NL), PhD (UGM, ID), Sp.OT(K), FICS - an Orthopedic & Traumatology Specialist at RS Medistra, expressed, “We are incredibly proud to introduce VELYS Robotic at RS Medistra. This technology not only enhances accuracy and safety in surgical procedures but also speeds up patient recovery. We successfully completed our first surgery with VELYS Robotic just a few days ago. We will also share testimonials from patients who have undergone the procedure and their outcomes. Currently, we are receiving several fellowship requests from young surgeons from neighboring countries. We hope this marks a significant milestone in the advancement of robotic-based medical services in Indonesia.” One of the first patients to undergo surgery with the Velys Robotic system shared their experience, saying, “From the very beginning, the doctors at RS Medistra provided detailed information about the surgery, including the advanced technology of Velys Robotic.” I feel super confident and excited to be the first patient to undergo this surgery in Indonesia. Thankfully, the operation went really well, and I'm thrilled with the results. Two weeks post-surgery, I've noticed some significant and positive changes, and I'm slowly getting back to longer standing activities. Dr. Kiki Novito, an Orthopedic & Traumatology Specialist at RS Medistra, mentioned that after the surgery, we’ll keep a close eye on the patient's progress. Even though patients report very positive effects post-surgery with Velys Robotic, it's crucial to stick to routine physiotherapy and take prescribed medications for a better recovery. After the knee implant surgery using Velys Robotic, patients should maintain a healthy lifestyle by exercising regularly and eating a balanced diet to speed up the healing process. Minati Atmanegara, a Health Motivator who spoke at the talk show, emphasized that staying healthy doesn’t mean you have to do intense workouts. Choose exercises that fit your age and physical ability. Plus, a healthy and balanced diet is key—start by eating more fruits and veggies while cutting down on high-fat and sugary foods. RS Medistra is committed to raising healthcare standards in Indonesia by adopting the latest and most innovative medical technologies. Velys Robotic is a significant step forward in achieving that vision, offering new hope for patients from all walks of life to receive the best care with optimal results.
