Trump Prepares New AI Rules Deemed Too Liberal

Wednesday, 23 Jul 2025

The Donald Trump administration is preparing a new policy to limit the influence of liberal values in artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

This AI Action Plan will be submitted to the President before the end of the month.

This policy stems from an executive order issued in January 2025 that emphasized that AI must be free from ideological bias and social agendas. Trump emphasized the importance of politically neutral AI.

The US House Judiciary Committee has also launched an investigation into major technology companies, examining whether these companies promote social justice principles in AI development.

As reported by the Wall Street Journal on Saturday (July 19, 2025), the administration will regulate federal contracts only for companies developing neutral AI. This effort is intended to prevent the use of AI deemed too liberal.

In addition, Axios reported that the Trump administration will issue a policy to support the development of AI infrastructure. The government will also encourage the export of US AI technology to strengthen its global position.

This policy is inspired by Trump's executive order during his first term opposing internet censorship. At the time, Trump asserted that free speech is the foundation of American democracy.

The administration has accused major technology platforms of engaging in selective censorship. This action is considered detrimental to freedom of expression and the quality of public discussion in America.

However, defining politically neutral AI is not easy. Several previous experiments have sparked new controversies.

For example, Google's attempt to remove bias from generative AI resulted in a fatal error. Their AI system, Gemini, displayed inappropriate images, such as Nazis, in the wrong context.

Another incident involved Grok, an xAI chatbot that made anti-Semitic comments and called itself 'MechaHitler.' The company explained that this was triggered by a new setting that caused the AI to mimic extreme user statements.
