The Minister Of Communication And Information Provides Insights Into The Role Of Information Technology In The Advancement Of IKN

The Minister of Communications and Informatics, Budi Arie Setiadi, articulated the role of information technology in the development and administration of the Capital City of the Archipelago (IKN) located in East Kalimantan Province. Following his visit with President Joko Widodo and President-elect Prabowo Subianto to oversee the IKN construction on Monday, he emphasized that information technology would serve as the foundation for managing smart cities within the capital region.

"The success of IKN's development is contingent not only on physical infrastructure but also on the effective application of technology to foster a smart and sustainable capital city," he stated, as reported in a press release from the ministry. "It is essential to leverage technology to establish a smart and interconnected capital city," he added. With a system that is both connected and technologically advanced, IKN is anticipated to provide more efficient and environmentally sustainable public services while promoting the growth of the digital economy.

Budi Arie emphasized that the Ministry of Communication and Information is fully committed to supporting the digital transformation in the new capital city, IKN, to ensure it serves not only as the governmental hub but also as a model for a modern and sustainable urban environment. During the visit, the Minister of Communication and Information, alongside other ministers, accompanied President Joko Widodo to Embung MBH, where they received insights into the strategic importance of the embung in preserving the ecosystem and enhancing the environmental quality of IKN.

Additionally, they toured Sumbu Kebangsaan, an area intended to symbolize national unity and progress. Budi Arie noted that President-Elect Prabowo Subianto has pledged to continue the development of IKN. "Mr. Prabowo acknowledges the initiatives undertaken by President Jokowi and is committed to ensuring that this development aligns with the established plans and visions," he stated.
