Tuesday, 06 Aug 2024

The shift to digital technology is becoming a key player in enhancing the industrial world with more efficient, effective, and innovative business processes and services. To speed up this digital transformation and foster innovation through a collaborative approach between academia and industry, Imajin, a partner in the Digital Hub Sinar Mas Land ecosystem, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS).

This MoU marks a commitment from both institutions to work together on hardware and biotechnology development. The signing took place during the Tech Link Summit 2024 on July 18, 2024, at the Digital Industry Center 4.0 in Jakarta, with Stefanus Hodir, Chief Marketing Officer of Imajin, and Agus Muhamad Hatta, Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, Collaboration, and Alumni Affairs at ITS, in attendance.

The Tech Link Summit 2024 is an initiative by the Ministry of Industry aimed at bringing together industry players, tech startups, and academics to exchange ideas, share insights, and build collaborations to accelerate Indonesia's digital economic transformation. As a strategic partner of the Ministry of Industry at this summit, Imajin plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between industry players and tech startups through various innovations and expanding its network of industry partners on a collaborative platform.

Chendy Jaya, CEO & Co-founder of Imajin, stated, “The collaboration between Imajin and ITS is a promising first step towards creating technological innovations through research and development. By combining Imajin's strengths in the industry with ITS's research expertise, we aim to drive technological advancement in Indonesia and enhance global competitiveness.”

To achieve our goals, we established the Imajin Advanced Manufacturing Center (IAMC), equipped with advanced 5-axis CNC machines for producing complex products and supporting biomedical innovation. This center enables the creation of high-quality products, contributes to biomedical advancements, and supports the growth of local SMEs through high-volume production and product development. Irawan Harahap, CEO of Digital Tech Ecosystem & Development at Sinar Mas Land, expressed, "We are proud to have Imajin as a key partner in our Digital Hub ecosystem, actively participating in the digital technology transformation process to foster collaboration between startups and various industries that need tech innovation to tackle future challenges. This motivated us to partner with Imajin in developing a makerspace project at the Biomedical Campus building within the Digital Hub area in BSD City. The Digital Hub is committed to supporting all partners in its ecosystem to expand their business networks and contribute to driving the digital economy in Indonesia." The collaboration between Imajin and ITS is expected to enhance value creation that can only be achieved through intensive research and development. This partnership aligns with the main goal of the Tech Link Summit 2024, initiated by the Ministry of Industry, to further boost collaboration between businesses and startups to foster innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation in Indonesia's industrial sector. Imajin is located in the Digital Hub, a 25-hectare commercial area dedicated to the tech industry in BSD City. Since 2016, there has been positive interest from various parties in developing this ecosystem, which has become home to 38 national and multinational companies, including Microsoft, NTT Data, MyRepublic, SIRCLO, and several Indonesian unicorn startups.
