The Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) has spoken out about the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the domestic workforce. Sigit Ary Prasetyo, Coordinator of Partnership Development and Labor Market Networks at the Ministry of Manpower, stated that AI does not completely replace human labor, but instead creates other opportunities that can be explored. "I think in the workforce, there are things that are replaced [by AI] and there are new things, so it grows into something new," he said after the launch of the JobCity.id application at the Smesco Building, South Jakarta, Tuesday (August 5, 2025). Sigit cited the example of the widespread access people have to AI-based platforms such as ChatGPT. He believes this demonstrates the speed of digitalization, including access to information related to the workforce. At the same time, he said the government will also utilize AI to create a job vacancy information platform. "We want to become a large aggregator of jobs and valid information for our community," he explained. On the other hand, Sigit explained that the development of artificial intelligence is still accompanied by an increase in workforce competency carried out by the Ministry of Manpower and other stakeholders. This effort includes various vocational training held by the Ministry of Manpower and those taking place in private companies. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) explained that technology such as AI can be utilized in recruiting human resources (HR) who have the Assistant Deputy for Innovation and Business Sustainability Assistance at the Ministry of MSMEs, Edhi Kusdiarwoko Dwikuncono, believes that the contribution of MSMEs to the national economy, which reaches 61% of GDP, can increase along with the continued development of innovation. "This synergy for easy access is a form of our concern for the technological advancement of MSMEs, including start-ups and also the workforce to continue to grow to build the Indonesian business world to be more qualified and sustainable in facing global challenges," he said on the same occasion.
