Chasing The Gap, Komdigi Targets To Produce 450 Thousand Digital Talents Per Year

Wednesday, 25 Jun 2025

The government through the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) is targeting to produce at least 450 thousand digital talents per year to meet the national need for digital human resources which is projected to reach 12 million people by 2030. The Head of the Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM) Komdigi, Bonifasius Wahyu Pudjianto, stated that this target is the result of adjustments from the government's initial study.

Initially, the projection of the need for national digital talents from 2015 to 2030 reached an average of 9 million people, so the government is targeting 600 thousand new talents per year. However, along with the increasing supply and the narrowing gap in digital talent, the annual target has now been adjusted to around 450 thousand digital talents per year, especially in the next six years, namely 2025 to 2030. "The need (for digital talent) continues to increase, the market continues to rise, but the supply also increases every year in aggregate. Well, the remaining gap is now divided for the years ahead, which produces the figure of 450 thousand per year," said Bonifasius in a press conference at the Komdigi Office, Jakarta, Friday (6/20).

In the near future, Komdigi plans to issue a circular to various global and national technology companies that partner with the government, to report data on the number of digital training participants from each program they run. "We will request reports from companies, both domestic and foreign. Komdigi is a hub for receiving various digital training assistance," he explained.

oni explained that the main focus of talent development includes four major pillars: Digital Literacy, Digital Talent Academy, Microskill Learning, and Digital Leadership Academy (DLA). Each program is designed to reach various target groups, ranging from students, professionals, to state officials.

 1. Digital Literacy as a Foundation Digital literacy is intended to equip the general public with basic skills in accessing, understanding, evaluating, and managing information in the digital space. The aspects emphasized include digital literacy, digital safety, digital culture, and digital ethics. This is the foundation for improving advanced digital competencies.

2. Digital Talent Academy and Microskill This program provides more technical and in-depth hard skills and soft skills training for specific industry needs, such as artificial intelligence (AI), programming, cybersecurity, cloud technology, and data science. There are learning paths and SKKNI-based modules as well as global certifications that can be accessed through the government's digital training platform.

3. Diploy and Digital Talent Pool Komdigi is also developing Diploy, a talent pool platform that connects training graduates with companies, startups, and institutions that need a digital workforce. This aims to create a direct connection (link and match) between training and industry needs.

4. Digital Leadership Academy (DLA) The DLA program is aimed at public and private sector leaders to strengthen national digital leadership capacity. The main focus is to create Smart Digital Leaders who are visionary and able to make decisions based on data and cutting-edge technology, in line with the vision of Indonesia's digital economy. To strengthen the monitoring and measurement of the program's impact, Komdigi is preparing a national reporting system that will monitor the number of training participants, the quality of training, and certification achievements. These programs are expected to reach priority groups such as high school/vocational school graduates, students, job seekers, MSME workers, and national superior talents. "In the long term, the development of this digital talent will not only reduce the HR gap, but also encourage the creation of new startups, technological innovation, and increase the competitiveness of the national digital economy," said Boni. To support these needs, he stated, Komdigi is also building Digital Training Centers in various regions such as Jakarta, Medan, Makassar, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Banjarmasin, and Manado, in order to expand the reach of training and distribute talent evenly.
