Sustainable Development Of Digital Startups Is The Focus Of The 8th GVV Program

Tuesday, 24 Jun 2025

Grab has launched the 8th edition of the Grab Ventures Velocity (GVV) accelerator program to develop digital startups sustainably, supported by Superbank and Genesis Alternative Ventures.

Carrying the theme "Driving a Sustainable Future: Helping MSMEs to Adopt Greener Operations", this year's GVV focuses on accelerating the growth of startup businesses that carry solutions in the digital economy and environmental sustainability, especially those engaged in the circular economy and renewable energy.

"GVV is a manifestation of Grab's long-term commitment to advancing the startup ecosystem in Indonesia," said Director of Digital and Sustainability Grab Indonesia Rivana Mezaya in a press release on Saturday.

This program focuses on post-seed stage startups, namely startups that have received initial funding, have operational products, and are ready to expand (scale-up) through strategic support from Grab, venture capital partners, and the public and private sectors.

Selected startups are expected to implement sustainable business practices, including the use of environmentally friendly packaging and greener and more efficient operations.

"We aim to support startups in exploring business opportunities, both through increasing operational efficiency and increasing competitiveness with more responsible business practices. This initiative is also expected to be an innovative and applicable solution that answers the needs of consumers who are increasingly concerned about sustainability," said Rivana.

Later, selected startups will take part in a series of programs including mentorship sessions with industry practitioners and the Grab team, access to Grab's digital ecosystem and infrastructure, opportunities to run pilot projects with Grab business units, and opportunities to pitch to investors and strategic partners.

A concrete example of Grab's support and collaboration for the 7th GVV alumni can be seen from the partnership between Arummi (a brand of alternative milk and plant-based protein products) and the GrabFood merchant network such as Golden Black Coffee to develop a widely available collaboration menu.

"Participating in GVV has had an impact on Arummi, through curated connections, expert insights on scale-up challenges, pilot programs with GrabFood partners to learn about consumer preferences, and the Tech in Asia Conference that expands regional networks while accelerating go-to-market strategies," said Nacita Kanyandara, CEO of Arummi.
