The Ministry of Industry is actively collaborating with all stakeholders, including business actors, associations, universities, ministries/agencies, and local governments in efforts to develop the industrial sector. This is implemented by the Standardization and Industrial Services Policy Agency (BSKJI) to promote the sustainable utilization of industrial technology and innovation. "Andi Rizaldi, Head of BSKJI at the Ministry of Industry, stated that optimizing the utilization of natural resources while considering standardization and technology that applies sustainable industries is an effort by the government to encourage industries to produce superior and highly competitive products," during the Business Gathering BSPJI Palembang 2024 with the theme "Strengthening Sustainable Economy Through Standardization and Industrial Certification" in Palembang on Thursday (7/18). As part of the Business Gathering BSPJI Palembang 2024 event, the ISO 22000 SNI Certification was also awarded to PT Sosro and CV Boga Amanda, product certification to PT Warna Agung Selatan, and environmental testing to PT Banyan Koalindo Lestari. During the event, the Head of BSKJI emphasized that the Ministry of Industry is committed to continuously promoting leading industrial sectors in South Sumatra Province to become more productive, competitive, and grow sustainably. Strategic steps include the implementation of Green Industry Standards (SIH), which will enhance production levels and industrial resilience through improved raw material and energy efficiency. "The Palembang Standardization and Industrial Services Policy Agency (BSPJI) is one of the Technical Service Units (UPT) that serves as an extension of the Ministry of Industry, particularly in the South Sumatra region and its surroundings. BSPJI Palembang can provide services for Green Industry Certification Bodies," Andi explained. Andi believes that implementing green industry is a sure step to accelerate the realization of a circular economy in Indonesia. This effort is carried out through increasing energy efficiency and the effectiveness of industrial waste management by applying standardization and green industry certification. As for the development of BSPJI Palembang industrial services that support the implementation of a circular economy in South Sumatra and its surroundings, they include providing Occupational Health and Safety Management System Certification based on ISO 45001, Environmental Quality Management System Certification (LSSML) based on ISO 14001, establishing a Greenhouse Gas Verification and Validation Agency or Carbon Economic Value, as well as other services that support energy efficiency and waste management for industries such as waste sampling and testing. "With the implementation of the BSKJI program by the Ministry of Industry through BSPJI Palembang, it is expected to play a crucial role in realizing the industrial development agenda in South Sumatra Province according to the Regional Industrial Development Master Plan (RIPIDA) and support the national circular economy implementation through providing industrial standardization and certification services," Andi stated. South Sumatra itself is a province with several leading regional industries that have great potential. Based on RIPIDA and the South Sumatra Medium-Term Regional Development Plan (RJPMD), the leading regional industries in South Sumatra are the rubber, palm oil, and coffee sectors. South Sumatra Province is the largest rubber producer in Indonesia, producing as much as 797,000 tons of rubber or 28.93 percent of the total rubber production in Indonesia in 2023. To support this leading regional industry, the Ministry of Industry through BSPJI Palembang has been providing Green Industry Standardization services since 2019. To date, eight rubber companies have been certified with Green Industry Standardization by BSPJI Palembang.
