The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) has temporarily frozen the registration of electronic system organizers Worldcoin and WorldID following public reports regarding suspicious activities related to the digital services. "This freezing is a preventive measure to prevent potential risks to the public," said Director General of Digital Space Supervision at Kemkomdigi Alexander Sabar as quoted in the ministry's press release in Jakarta, Sunday. Kemkomdigi will summon officials from PT Terang Bulan Abadi and PT Sandina Abadi Nusantara and ask them to provide clarification regarding alleged violations of electronic system organizer provisions in the Worldcoin and WorldID services. According to the results of the initial investigation, PT Terang Bulan Abadi has not been registered as an electronic system organizer and does not have an electronic system organizer registration certificate (TDPSE) as required by law. "Worldcoin services are recorded as using TDPSE in the name of another legal entity, namely PT Sandina Abadi Nusantara," said Alexander. According to Government Regulation Number 71 of 2019 concerning the Implementation of Electronic Systems and Transactions and Regulation of the Minister of Communication and Informatics Number 10 of 2021 concerning Private Electronic System Providers, every digital service provider must be legally registered and responsible for the operation of services to the public. "Non-compliance with registration obligations and the use of the identity of another legal entity to run digital services is a serious violation," said Alexander. He said that the Ministry of Communication and Digital is monitoring the digital ecosystem to ensure the security of the national digital space. "We invite the public to help maintain a safe and trusted digital space for all citizens," he said. The Ministry of Communication and Digital urges the public to be aware of unauthorized digital services and immediately report through the official public complaint channel if they find any suspected violations in the implementation of digital services.
