Indonesia and Qatar have reached an agreement to enhance their strategic cooperation in the defense sector, which includes collaboration in technology and cybersecurity. This agreement was established during a bilateral meeting between the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia and the Minister of Defense of Qatar on Saturday, April 12, 2025. The Indonesian Minister of Defense, Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, visited the Ministry of Defense of Qatar for this purpose. The meeting aimed to strengthen defense relations between the two nations. During this encounter, Sjafrie had a face-to-face discussion with Qatar's Minister of Defense, HE Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Bin Hassan Bin Ali Al Thani. The Indonesian Minister emphasized Indonesia's commitment to bolstering strategic and visionary defense cooperation. Focus on Defense Technology and Cybersecurity Collaboration Both parties agreed to expand their collaboration in the technology sector, which includes the development of drones, cybersecurity measures, and ballistic missiles. This agreement reflects a shared vision to enhance defense capabilities through innovation and digital transformation. Additionally, Indonesia and Qatar are promoting the implementation of military officer exchange programs as a means to strengthen defense human resources. Joint military exercises between the two countries will also be expanded to improve synergy and readiness of their forces.
