The tourism industry in Indonesia will be more prepared to face the digital era with the digital literacy training that is happening today, a result of the collaboration between Katalis, a government-supported business development program, and Traveloka, the leading travel platform in Southeast Asia. This collaboration is a significant step in preparing the industry for the digital era. The program aims to provide opportunities for training providers from Australia to connect to the Traveloka platform and help develop the Indonesian tourism sector by building a strong foundation to thrive in the modern tourism market. The training program includes modules covering digital security and ethics, digital marketing, and utilizing digital platforms to enhance participants' understanding of the digital landscape. Katalis has partnered with TAFE Queensland to deliver high-quality training to address the skills gap in the Indonesian tourism industry and facilitate the participation of disadvantaged groups through Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs. This initiative is expected to help increase the number of high-quality tourist villages to attract domestic and international tourists. Upon completion, micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) participants will be eligible to join the Traveloka ecosystem and/or Traveloka Xperience platform as partners to offer their products and services globally. Thirty selected individuals will undergo training for five days at Ciputra University starting today. Participants include lecturers, students, MSMEs, tourism operators, village tourism practitioners, as well as representatives from the Surabaya City Government and East Java Provincial Government. Traveloka is committed to upholding the principles of corporate social responsibility and advancing sustainable tourism development in Indonesia through the enhancement of SMEs. Indonesia has incredible world-class tourism potential, and we are delighted to collaborate with Katalis to expand the reach of specialized training programs with specific and strategic focuses. These programs have been designed to empower businesses in the Indonesian tourism ecosystem so that they can effectively showcase the values that Indonesia offers to a global audience," said Albert, Co-Founder of Traveloka. Previously, Traveloka has conducted digital skills training for businesses in the Indonesian tourism industry, including its flagship program, Desa Wisata, a result of collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. "This latest training marks an exciting new chapter in our partnership with Traveloka. This initiative will expand the proven learning model for training providers in Australia to reach thousands of small and medium-sized tourism businesses across Indonesia. We hope that this collaborative effort will lead to the emergence of many new opportunities and markets that can support the growth of the Indonesian tourism industry and Australian training providers, forming a mutually beneficial partnership," said Paul Bartlett, Director of Katalis. This new initiative has the potential to benefit businesses and communities led by women, considering that 55% of the workforce in the Indonesian tourism industry are women. Through the Traveloka Xperience platform, Katalis has initiated commercial partnerships with various training providers from Australia, including Melbourne Polytechnic.
