Testing The Maximum Gaming Performance On The ROG Phone 9 FE

The electronics brand ASUS has reintroduced its new line of gaming smartphones, the Republic of Gamers (ROG) Phone, in Indonesia as of March 2025. This lineup includes the ROG Phone 9 Series, which features the ROG Phone 9 Fan Edition (FE), ROG Phone 9 Pro, and ROG Phone 9 Pro Edition. 

True to its name, this smartphone delivers a seamless and optimal gaming experience, supported by innovative specifications and features, including a cutting-edge chipset, a high refresh rate display, and functionalities enhanced by artificial intelligence (AI). 

ANTARA had the opportunity to test one of the models from the ROG Phone 9 series, specifically the ROG Phone 9 FE, to experience its features firsthand. 

Included in the sales package, ASUS provides a built-in charger with a USB Type-C cable and a hard transparent case for additional protection of the device. 

Design 

In terms of design, the ROG Phone 9 FE maintains the premium and futuristic aesthetic characteristic of the ROG Phone series. The texture of the phone's back resembles fine sandstone, ensuring a non-slip grip. Additionally, the surface exhibits a glossy appearance when exposed to light. 

With dimensions of 163.8 x 76.8 x 8.9 mm and a weight of 225 grams, the phone feels relatively large and heavy, yet remains comfortable to hold. 

The power and volume buttons are located on the right side of the device, while the left side features a USB-C port, which is also available at the bottom of the device. Additionally, the sides of the phone are equipped with AirTrigger, providing extra control options during gaming. 

The ROG Phone 9 FE also showcases the iconic feature of the ROG Phone series, AniMe Vision, which consists of moving visuals created by mini-LEDs on the back panel. This model includes a Mini-LED Matrix with 341 dots, fewer than the 648 dots found in the ROG Phone 9 Pro.
