Managing Director for Rohde & Schwarz in Indonesia, Muhammad Arif, emphasized the significance of adopting 5G network technology, which offers enhanced speed and reduced latency, as crucial for supporting industrial growth. The advancement of 5G technology, which is expected to evolve into 6G, is increasingly vital amid the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in various industries. The utilization of 5G in conjunction with AI will facilitate the integration of sensing and communication technologies, commonly referred to as integrated sensing and communication (ISAC). The experiences gained through AI, when combined with the high-speed connectivity provided by 5G technology, will lead to improved, faster, and more sustainable services. The implementation of 5G technology presents significant benefits for society, even though the current infrastructure for 5G remains in the Non-Standalone (NSA) phase, relying on 4G infrastructure. Therefore, there is a need to strengthen the advanced infrastructure systems, either through fiber optics or Base Transceiver Stations (BTS). Additionally, substantial investment is required to develop 5G technology towards 6G, with significant funding anticipated. Given the limitations in investment and the development of telecommunications infrastructure in Indonesia, the commercial adoption of 6G is projected to occur only by the year 2030.
