Digital technology, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), plays a crucial role in achieving the annual economic growth target of 8% as outlined in President Prabowo Subianto's vision. Edwin Hidayat Abdullah, the Director General of the Digital Ecosystem at the Ministry of Communication and Digital, emphasized that AI not only enhances productivity but also serves as a mitigation tool to address national economic challenges. "AI requires appropriate governance, supported innovation, and widespread promotion of its utilization to contribute maximally to economic development," he stated during the Alibaba Cloud Developer Summit 2025 in South Jakarta on January 21, 2025. Consequently, the Ministry of Communication and Digital is taking concrete steps to expand digital infrastructure. This initiative includes the development of extensive telecommunications networks, the establishment of reliable data centers, and the provision of high-performance cloud computing services. "This infrastructure is the backbone of the digital transformation we are advocating to support growth across various sectors," Edwin Hidayat asserted. In addition to infrastructure provision, the Ministry is also enhancing human resource capacity through the Digital Talent Scholarship (DTS) Program. This program offers training and skill enhancement for talents in AI and cutting-edge technology. "We collaborate with universities, industry groups, and corporations to ensure that Indonesia has digital talent capable of competing globally," Edwin Hidayat revealed. Furthermore, the Ministry is fostering collaboration with global industry players to build an inclusive AI ecosystem. Alibaba Cloud has emerged as a strategic partner that has contributed to the development of technology, infrastructure, and AI applications in Indonesia. "Through this collaboration, we ensure that Indonesia can leverage advanced technology to accelerate digital transformation," Edwin Hidayat emphasized.
