Microsoft is currently developing DirectX to incorporate neural rendering, an advanced technology that leverages artificial intelligence. The objective is to deliver more realistic graphics with high efficiency, particularly in gaming and other resource-intensive applications. With neural rendering, tasks such as texture creation, lighting, and resolution enhancement can be managed by AI, facilitating the use of Neural Processing Units (NPUs). This approach enhances visual quality without placing excessive demands on hardware. The application of AI to improve gaming graphics is not a novel concept. Technologies such as NVIDIA's DLSS and AMD's FSR serve as notable examples.
