Telkomsel Teams Up With Tencent Cloud & MCASH To Explore Scanner Technology

Friday, 21 Jun 2024

Telkomsel, the leading digital telecommunications company in Indonesia, together with Tencent Cloud, one of the world's leading cloud companies, and MCASH (PT M Cash Integrasi Tbk), a leading digital infrastructure company in Indonesia, have announced a collaboration to explore the adoption of Palm Scanner technology as a new solution to enhance customer service. This collaboration was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in Jakarta on June 19, 2024.

Telkomsel, Tencent Cloud, and MCASH will explore the biometric Palm Scanner technology designed to identify individual customers based on unique patterns on their palms.

This technology works by reading and mapping the veins, fingerprints, or skin patterns on the palm, which are then used for customer verification. With this technology, the customer verification process, also known as Know Your Customer (KYC), will become faster, more efficient, secure, and convenient.

Adiwinahyu Basuki Sigit, Sales Director of Telkomsel, said, "In order to fulfill our commitment to improving customer comfort, speed, and security, Telkomsel is implementing the latest technology solution in the form of palm scanner in collaboration with MCASH and Tencent Cloud.

We are committed to always leveraging the latest technology to innovate and create convenience, and to have a positive impact on our customers. This collaborative effort is also in line with Telkomsel's vision to become the leading digital telecommunications service provider and to realize a highly competitive Indonesian society."

Jimmy Chen, VP Tencent Cloud International & Business Director Tencent Cloud APAC, said, "We are very excited to collaborate with Telkomsel and MCASH in exploring the implementation of palm scanning and verification technology. This technology not only enhances the comfort and security of users, but also drives innovation and digital transformation in Indonesia. Through this collaboration, we hope to accelerate the adoption of more efficient and secure digital solutions, and support Indonesia's efforts to build a strong and sustainable digital ecosystem.

MCASH's CEO, Martin Suharlie, added, "This partnership demonstrates our commitment to providing innovative and beneficial digital solutions for the community. As a digital infrastructure company in Indonesia, MCASH has a strong ecosystem and plays a crucial role as a tech enabler in integrating various cutting-edge technologies to deliver digital solutions.

By combining our expertise with Telkomsel and Tencent, we believe we can provide efficient and secure identity verification technology, as well as improve customer service."

The Palm Scanner technology offers several advantages, such as its comfortability as the hand scanning process is not affected by factors like height, facial similarities in twins, and crowded environments.

Moreover, the scanning process conducted on the hand area also reduces the risk of errors by minimizing the possibility of wrong responses due to being captured by a camera. Additionally, this technology is agnostic, meaning it can be used on various types of hardware, software, and platforms, making it easier to implement.

Through this collaboration, Telkomsel will implement the Palm Scanner technology in the workplace, customer services, and B2B to enhance convenience and provide innovative solutions in Telkomsel's product and service transactions. With the implementation of this technology, Telkomsel aims to improve operational efficiency and provide a better and safer service experience.
