Meta AI Chatbot Is Now Available On WhatsApp In Indonesia

The integration of the "Meta AI" chatbot into WhatsApp was first announced in April. After nearly eight months of anticipation, WhatsApp users in Indonesia can finally access the Meta AI chatbot for free. As observed by KompasTekno on Monday, December 9, 2024, the Meta AI chatbot is now visible on the main page of the WhatsApp application version 2.24.24.77 on Android devices. It appears at the top of the WhatsApp interface, just above the "Archived" menu. This feature is capable of answering user inquiries, creating animated photos, and generating images in real-time.

For Indonesian users, Meta AI on WhatsApp utilizes the Llama 3.2 language model developed by Meta. KompasTekno tested the Meta AI chatbot by inquiring about the weather forecast in Jakarta for the day. Users simply need to type their questions or commands in Indonesian in the "Ask Meta AI or Search" field. They will then be automatically redirected to the Meta AI chat room.

Within this chat room, Meta AI provides responses. During the test conducted by KompasTekno, Meta AI was able to detail the weather in Jakarta for the morning and provide a forecast for the afternoon, complete with a link to the BMKG website as a source. Users can click on this link to verify the information provided by the Meta AI chatbot.

Additionally, KompasTekno requested Meta AI to create an animated image depicting the weather in Jakarta for the day. Meta AI produced an image of a wet Jakarta roadway under dark, thick clouds. Users can also ask for images in a 9:16 ratio suitable for Instagram Stories or WhatsApp statuses; however, it was found that Meta AI can only generate images in a 1:1 ratio.

Beyond weather inquiries, users can ask about various other topics. For instance, they can request Meta AI to find restaurant recommendations, vacation spots, or home decoration ideas. General questions such as "when is the next solar eclipse?" and "what dog breeds are suitable for small apartments?" can also be addressed.
