The Speaker Of The House Of Representatives Reveals That This Session Will Commence Discussions On The 2026 State Budget Draft

Tuesday, 24 Jun 2025

The Chairperson of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, has stated that during the session commencing on June 24 and concluding on July 24, 2025, discussions will begin regarding the Draft State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (RAPBN) for 2026.

She indicated that in 2026, the global economy is projected to face a dynamic and uncertain situation. Geopolitical conflicts, geo-economic factors, and an unfavorable global economic environment will significantly impact global supply chains, economic productivity, consumer spending, purchasing power, and capital flows for investment.

"Therefore, the discussions on macroeconomic policies and the main fiscal policy for 2026 must anticipate these factors, which could affect the capacity of the state budget (APBN) to implement national development," Puan stated during a plenary meeting at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Tuesday.

She also mentioned that the Macro Economic Framework and Main Fiscal Policy Principles (KEM-PPKF) for 2026 should include current policy developments, including the Constitutional Court's decision regarding free primary education.

Additionally, she noted that during this session, the Indonesian House of Representatives will draft a Law on Accountability for the Implementation of the State Budget (APBN) for 2024.

The focus of this discussion, she said, will be on the effectiveness of achieving goals and the efficiency of implementation, as well as evaluations that must be followed up to refine the state budget for subsequent years.

He emphasized that the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) will carefully monitor to ensure that the revenue, expenditure, and financing policies within the State Budget (APBN) consistently adhere to the principles of orderliness and compliance with laws and regulations, efficiency, economy, effectiveness, transparency, and accountability, while also considering a sense of justice and propriety.

In the context of parliamentary diplomacy, he mentioned that the DPR will host visits from several ambassadors of friendly nations and will undertake working visits to Mexico, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Belarus, China, and Japan.

He encouraged the public to continue monitoring and participating in the execution of the DPR's functions and duties in accordance with applicable regulations.

"The Indonesian people can actively oversee and participate in every execution of the functions and duties of the DPR RI in line with the established mechanisms and regulations," he stated.
