Batik Air will launch a roundtrip flight from Juanda International Airport in Surabaya (SUB) to Aji Pangeran Tumenggung Pranoto Airport in Samarinda (AAP) in East Kalimantan, starting August 1, 2025. Batik Air's Corporate Communications Strategic Officer, Danang Mandala Prihantoro, stated that this route is one of Batik Air's strategic steps in strengthening its connectivity network between key regions in Indonesia. "The Surabaya-Samarinda route has significant value in three main aspects: business activities, the tourism sector, and family interests," Danang said in an official press release on Monday (July 21, 2025). He continued, explaining that Surabaya is known as an industrial and trade center in eastern Indonesia, while Samarinda, the capital of East Kalimantan Province, is rapidly developing along with development. This makes connectivity between the two destinations increasingly important and relevant. Batik Air operates this route seven times weekly using a modern, 156-seat Airbus A320-200 aircraft. This aircraft features 12 business class seats and 144 economy class seats. "This aircraft is designed to provide the best cabin comfort, quiet seating, and efficient technology that supports flight performance and safety," Danang continued. Batik Air's round-trip Surabaya-Samarinda flight schedule: Flight ID-6685 departs Surabaya at 3:15 PM Western Indonesian Time (WIB) and arrives in Samarinda at 6:00 PM Central Indonesian Time (WITA). Conversely, flight ID-6684 departs Samarinda at 6:40 PM Central Indonesian Time (WITA) and arrives in Surabaya at 7:20 PM Western Indonesian Time (WIT). Non-stop flights are said to be an effective solution for travelers seeking direct access without transit, shortening travel time, and optimizing daily schedules. For businesspeople, this route can facilitate inter-regional coordination and expedite the mobilization of labor and logistics.
