Thursday, 17 Jul 2025

Batik Air is expanding its network by opening a new flight route connecting Surabaya and Samarinda.

This route officially began operating on August 1, 2025, connecting Juanda International Airport (SUB) in Surabaya with Aji Pangeran Tumenggung Pranoto Airport (AAP) in Samarinda.

Batik Air's Corporate Communications Strategic Officer, Danang Mandala Prihantoro, explained that this route is a strategic step to strengthen connectivity between important cities in Indonesia.

"The Surabaya-Samarinda route plays a significant role, both for business activities, the tourism sector, and family needs," Danang said in a written statement on Monday (July 14, 2025).

Surabaya is known as the industrial and trade center of eastern Indonesia. Meanwhile, Samarinda, as the capital of East Kalimantan Province, is growing rapidly with infrastructure development and its role in supporting the Indonesian Capital City (IKN).

Passengers will be flown on a 156-seat Airbus A320-200 aircraft, with 12 business class seats and 144 economy class seats. This aircraft is equipped with modern technology to support cabin comfort and flight safety.

Danang added, "We are offering non-stop flight services to shorten travel times, support business mobility, and open up tourism opportunities to East Kalimantan."

Batik Air also offers digital services through the BookCabin app. Passengers can easily book tickets and check-in online. Additionally, passengers can join the CabinClub loyalty program to enjoy various promotions, special discounts, and the latest route information.

"We want to provide a comfortable, practical flying experience that meets the needs of today's customers," Danang concluded.
