Wings Air Opens Manado-Tana Toraja Flight Route, Flying Twice A Week

Monday, 14 Jul 2025

Wings Air officially launched its inaugural flight from Manado, North Sulawesi (Sulut) to Tana Toraja, South Sulawesi (Sulsel). Wings Air will operate the flight twice weekly using an ATR 72-600 aircraft.

Danang Mandala Prihantoro, Corporate Communications Strategic Officer of Wings Air, stated that the inaugural flight from Manado to Tana Toraja officially opened on Monday (July 7, 2025). The route was launched in collaboration with the North Sulawesi Provincial Government.

"This new route is the result of an initiative and synergy between the North Sulawesi Provincial Government and Wings Air, with the hope of improving connectivity, encouraging local economic growth, and strengthening the tourism and cultural sectors in Sulawesi," Danang said in a statement on Wednesday (July 9).

Danang explained that this flight reduces the travel time from Manado to Tana Toraja to only about 100 minutes. This is now significantly shorter than the land route, which can take more than 10 hours.

Wings Air now connects Tana Toraja with three major cities: Makassar, Balikpapan, and Manado. This route is the result of active collaboration between the North Sulawesi Provincial Government and Wings Air—a concrete example of collaboration between a region and an airline to open up access and potential in the region," he explained.
