Airlines Worldwide Halt Flights Due To Iran-Israel Conflict

Thursday, 26 Jun 2025

International airlines have stopped, delayed, and diverted flights due to the escalation of the Iran-Israel conflict involving the United States. Reuters reported on Tuesday (6/24/2025), a number of airlines have postponed flights until Wednesday (6/25/2025). Last Monday (6/23/2025), Air India stopped all flights to the Middle East. Flights to the east coast of North America and Europe were also canceled. The Indian airline even diverted flights that were already in the air to their airports of origin because they were approaching closed airspace in the conflict area.

Military tensions between Iran and Israel have been exacerbated by the involvement of the United States. Major airspace such as Dubai and Qatar have been closed.

The usually busy airspace from Iran and Iraq to the Mediterranean is now empty. There is no commercial air traffic due to the closure of the area and safety reasons. Osprey Flight Solutions, an aviation risk consultant, said airlines are likely to avoid Doha, Dubai, and other airports in the Middle East. They are worried that Iran or its proxies will attack US military bases using drones or missiles.

A number of airlines have suspended flights indefinitely. Finnair was the first to announce that it would suspend its route to Doha until June 30. Singapore Airlines has canceled flights to Dubai until Tuesday. Air France KLM, Iberia, British Airways and Air Astana have all suspended flights to Doha or Dubai since last weekend. Air France has also canceled its route to Riyadh and postponed flights to and from Beirut until Wednesday. This situation has left passengers stranded at the airport. Some have chosen to cancel their trips because of the uncertain flight schedule.
