Qatar Airways Has Resumed Flights To Qatar; Be Cautious Of Potential Delays And Longer Transit Times

Tuesday, 24 Jun 2025

Qatar Airways has resumed flights to Qatar following the reopening of the airspace in Qatar on Tuesday (24/6/2025). Previously, the airspace in Qatar was closed prior to Iran's retaliatory strike against the United States (US) airbase near Doha. "Currently, our priority is to assist passengers in returning home or continuing their journeys safely and smoothly," as stated in the official release from Qatar Airways on Tuesday (24/6/2025). Furthermore, it was conveyed that Qatar Airways is continuing to collaborate intensively with the government and relevant authorities to restore operations as quickly as possible.

In addition, Qatar Airways has deployed additional emergency service personnel at Hamad International Airport and several other major airports to assist affected passengers.

These additional staff members have also been mobilized to minimize disruptions and to provide the best service and attention to all customers. However, with the resumption of flight operations, passengers should remain vigilant regarding potential delays or schedule disruptions. "We advise passengers to check the latest information via qatarairways.com or the Qatar Airways mobile app before traveling," it was stated.

Previously, as reported by the BBC, Qatar closed its airspace on Monday in anticipation of a retaliatory strike by Iran against the United States airbase near Doha.

Adding from Travel and Tour World, this airspace closure has caused disruptions to Qatar Airways' international network. Among these disruptions are flight suspensions, broken connections, and stranded passengers. As Qatar Airways resumes operations, potential flight delays are unavoidable due to the surge in air traffic, leading to congestion in the main air corridors. Therefore, passengers should prepare for longer transit times, changes in departure times, and last-minute updates on departure gates.

It is known that Iran launched missiles at the al-Udeid airbase on Monday evening (June 23, 2025). Both Qatari and US officials stated that nearly all missiles were intercepted, and there were no casualties or injuries. This missile launch was a response following the US's air military operation against three Iranian nuclear facilities on June 22, 2025. Prior to the Iranian attack, the US embassy in Qatar had urged American citizens to take shelter as a precautionary measure. That order has since been lifted, and the embassy announced that activities would return to normal on Tuesday (June 24, 2025).
