Singapore Opens New Flights To Padang & Majalengka

Thursday, 19 Jun 2025

Singaporean Prime Minister (PM) Lawrence Wong said that his party agreed to open new flight routes to two airports in Indonesia. To be precise, flights to Padang City via Minangkabau International Airport and to Majalengka via West Java Kertajati International Airport.

This was stated directly by Wong after holding a state meeting with President Prabowo Subianto. He received Prabowo directly in his country at an event called the Leaders Retreat. Connectivity between Indonesia and Singapore will indeed be improved.

"Both President Prabowo and I agree on the importance of facilitating more people-to-people exchanges. Increasing connectivity will enable such exchanges, and we welcome the new flights launched from Singapore to Padang and Kertajati," Wong explained in a joint press statement, Monday (16/6/2025).

Kertajati Airport in Majalengka was temporarily dormant after being inaugurated during the era of the 7th President Joko Widodo. The airport had no flight routes, especially during the pandemic.

Recently, the President Director of BUMD BIJB Muhammad Singgih said that flights to Singapore are still showing a positive trend, the data shows that the average number of passengers is above 90% for flights to Singapore.

In fact, this is the only flight route that routinely operates at the airport. Flights to Singapore are carried out every Tuesday and Saturday, with occupancy reaching 90-94%.

"For Singapore, it is every Tuesday and Saturday. The passengers are quite good, above 90 percent continuously. Like yesterday it reached approximately 94 percent," said Singgih when contacted, Wednesday (11/6/2025), quoted from detikJabar.
