Wednesday, 18 Jun 2025

Wings Air has officially launched a new flight route today connecting Batam and Dabo Singkep round trip.

The inaugural flight was marked by the landing of a Wings Air ATR 72-500 aircraft at Dabo Singkep Airport, Lingga Regency, Riau Islands, on Saturday (June 14) afternoon.

Flights from Batam to Dabo Singkep are scheduled to depart three times a week, every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. The opening of this route is expected to enhance connectivity, accessibility, and mobility for the community between the two regions, as well as contribute positively to the local economy.

Lingga Regent, Muhammad Nizar, who participated in the inaugural Wings Air flight, expressed that the introduction of this flight route from Batam to Dabo Singkep round trip will facilitate economic and tourism development in Lingga Regency.

"The local government of Lingga Regency certainly extends its gratitude to the Ministry of Transportation for granting Wings Air permission to open the new flight route from Batam to Dabo and Dabo to Batam," Nizar stated when met at Dabo Singkep Airport.

The Regent of Lingga explained that hopefully, in the future, Wings Air can add new routes such as Dabo to Pekan Baru and Dabo to Jakarta. Currently, the local government of Lingga Regency has air transport routes operated by Susi Air and Wings Air, in addition to maritime transportation.

"Given the current extreme weather conditions, this is certainly a consideration as we have entered the southern wind season. To shorten travel time, Wings Air can reach Batam in approximately 35 minutes, whereas traveling by sea takes about 5 hours to arrive in Batam," he elaborated.

The Regent of Lingga also urged the community, including civil servants, to allocate time and space to allow Wings Air to operate comfortably on the Batam to Dabo flights three times a week.
