AirAsia Has Launched A New Route From Phuket To Medan, With Its Inaugural Flight Scheduled For June 27

AirAsia has launched a new route from Phuket, Thailand to Medan, North Sumatra, operating four times a week, with the inaugural flight taking place on June 27, 2025. 

"The new Phuket-Medan route will be serviced four times a week for round trips, specifically on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, utilizing Airbus A320 aircraft," stated Tansita Akraritpirom, Head of Commercial Thai AirAsia, in Medan on Thursday. 

This low-cost airline, she continued, will provide new opportunities for travelers from Medan and its surroundings to explore the tropical beauty of Phuket. 

Phuket is one of Thailand's iconic islands, renowned as a tourist paradise and a favorite destination for visitors from around the globe. 

"Since we opened bookings for this route, we have observed a very high interest from travelers in both cities," she revealed. 

According to her, the short travel time and convenient flight schedule make this route an excellent choice for weekend getaways. 

This route also highlights the significant tourism potential between these two premier destinations," Tansita remarked. 

She noted that with a relatively short travel time and a frequency of four flights per week, tourists can enjoy a variety of attractions that Phuket has to offer.
