Lion Air has confirmed that its Hajj flight routes for the year 1446 Hijri/2025 AD will operate from two embarkation points in Indonesia, namely Padang and Banjarmasin, without traversing the airspace of Northern India and Pakistan. This decision is in response to the ongoing conflict in the airspace of Northern Pakistan and India. According to official notifications from global civil aviation authorities (NOTAM and ICAO/IATA references), as well as the approved and monitored air navigation routes, Lion Air, as a company committed to the highest standards of flight safety and security, adheres to all international aviation regulations and guidelines in planning and operating its routes, taking into account geopolitical conditions and restricted or high-risk airspace,” stated Danang Mandala Prihantoro, Corporate Communications Strategic of Lion Air, in a statement on Thursday, May 8, 2025. Danang further emphasized that each route undergoes a rigorous approval process and reporting to the relevant civil aviation authorities in both the departure and destination countries. “The air routes utilized by Lion Air are designed with considerations for safe zones, flight time efficiency, and avoidance of areas with potential air conflict,” Danang added. The Hajj flight routes operated by Lion Air from Indonesia will commence from Banjarmasin (Syamsudin Noor Airport) and Padang (Minangkabau Airport), proceeding to Madinah (Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz Airport) and Jeddah (King Abdulaziz Airport) in Saudi Arabia.
