Garuda Indonesia Group optimizes production capacity amidst the challenges of the global aviation industry, especially the dynamics of the aircraft spare parts supply chain that are currently affecting almost all players in the world's air transportation industry.

"Garuda Indonesia Group continues to encourage the optimization of production capacity amidst the challenges of the global aviation industry," said Garuda Indonesia Technical Director Rahmat Hanafi when confirmed by ANTARA in Jakarta, Monday.

He said that one Garuda fleet and 14 Citilink fleets are currently waiting for routine maintenance scheduling in the form of heavy maintenance and replacement of spare parts.

Including replacement of spare parts, to be ready to operate again. The entire fleet maintenance process is planned to be carried out this year.

"It is undeniable that the limited supply chain conditions for spare parts are currently being faced by almost all players in the aviation industry, causing the implementation of heavy maintenance to take longer," he said.

Furthermore, he said that the heavy maintenance process is needed to ensure that safety standards and airworthiness are maintained for aircraft that will be operated.

In line with the fleet optimization steps, Garuda Indonesia has also brought in four narrow-body fleets since the end of 2024, namely the Boeing 737-800NG (PK-GUF and PK-GUG). While the other two (PK-GUH and PK-GUI) began operating in the second quarter of 2025.

"This step is in line with the recovery of demand and increased passenger traffic after the pandemic and the growth of the national tourism sector," he explained.

He added that the optimization of production capacity will continue to be aligned with the company's performance outlook in accordance with the growth of market demand, to ensure that the strengthening of the foundation of business performance can always be maintained sustainably.

"Garuda Indonesia is optimistic that it can continue to transform into an agile and competitive airline, providing safe and reliable air services for the community," said Rahmat.
