The Ministry of Culture expressed appreciation for the successful Jakarta Film Week (JFW) 2024, which concluded on Sunday, October 27, 2024. Now in its fourth year, this annual event is a significant platform for Indonesian cinema, showcasing quality films and fostering collaboration between local and international filmmakers. In JFW 2024, the Ministry also supported the new JFW Net program, which operates alongside the festival to promote industry growth and strengthen the national film ecosystem. Culture Minister Fadli Zon stated that Jakarta Film Week is a crucial pillar in helping local films compete on the international stage. "Jakarta Film Week is not just a film festival; it is vital for the development of cinema in our country," Fadli said. He noted that this event provides local filmmakers with opportunities for recognition, networking, and introducing their work to both domestic and global audiences. The JFW Net program during JFW 2024 focuses on the dynamics of the national and international film industry through various activities such as workshops, talks, focus group discussions, and pitching forums. JFW Net serves as a meeting point for stakeholders in Indonesia's film industry. According to Fadli, JFW Net offers a broad space for national filmmakers to collaborate with producers, investors, and film experts from different countries, creating sustainable cross-sector synergies. “With the introduction of JFW Net, we hope Indonesian filmmakers gain valuable opportunities to broaden their perspectives, enhance their experiences, and build networks with global film industry players," Fadli said. This program aims to strengthen the foundation of the national film industry, making it competitive on a global scale. Minister Fadli stated that JFW 2024 and its parallel program, JFW Net, demonstrate the strength of the film ecosystem. "To enrich public understanding of the world and connect with various cultural values," he added. Jakarta Film Week 2024 showcases a variety of works from 55 countries, featuring diverse themes and perspectives.
