Minister Of Communication And Digital Meets Director General Of SDIT To Discuss DI-UK AI Collaboration

Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital (Wamenkomdigi) Nezar Patria held a bilateral meeting with the Director General of Digital Technology and Telecommunications at the UK Department of Science, Innovation, and Technology (DSIT) Emran Mian to discuss strengthening artificial intelligence (AI) collaboration between Indonesia and the UK. 

The meeting was a space for the two countries to share experiences and best practices related to technology development held at the London Tech Week 2025 event in the UK, Tuesday (10/6) local time. 

"This meeting is very valuable for exchanging views and learning from the UK's experience in developing an advanced digital ecosystem, especially in the field of AI," said Nezar Patria in a press statement received in Jakarta, Wednesday. 

The main focus of the discussion included the development of a robust AI infrastructure, the development of competent digital talent, and the preparation of an adaptive regulatory framework to ensure the use of AI that is safe, ethical, and provides maximum benefits to society. 

"We are committed to strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation, especially in facing the challenges and opportunities of AI in the future," said Nezar. 

In the meeting, the British and Indonesian delegations shared their respective experiences and priority programs in developing the AI ??ecosystem. 

One of them is related to digital infrastructure for AI, the British delegation stated that it has invested more than 1 billion euros over four years, for AI computing research and the construction of large-scale data centers. 

Meanwhile, Indonesia, in the same regard, prioritizes the construction of data centers, AI chips, and increasing computing power through cross-sector collaboration.
