As many as 30 leading artificial intelligence (AI) technology companies from South Korea (ROK) showcased their latest innovations at the ASEAN-KOREA Digital Business Partnership 2025 event at the Fairmont Hotel, Jakarta, Tuesday (10/06/2025).

This event is the main business matching forum between ASEAN digital industry players and South Korean software companies that offer AI-based solutions, digital health, and data and cyber security.

President Director of the Korea Information Technology Industry Development Agency (NIPA) Park Yunkyu stated that digital cooperation between South Korea and ASEAN has begun since 2023 and will continue to be strengthened this year. He said that Korea has made the digital sector a core national industry since the early 2000s, and continues to strive to become a leading digital country.

"ASEAN, including Indonesia, is developing very rapidly in the digital sector. We are confident that Korea and ASEAN will become increasingly strong partners, with artificial intelligence as the main link," said Park in his remarks.

Meanwhile, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN Satvinder Singh stated that the strength of the ASEAN region is as a neutral and open platform for all global partners. According to him, ASEAN is currently the third largest economic region in global trade, with a total GDP reaching US$3.8 trillion and an average growth of 4-4.5% per year.

"We are attracting foreign direct investment of US$224 billion by 2024, making ASEAN the largest FDI recipient region outside the United States," explained Satvinder.

With increasingly intensive cooperation like this, according to him, Indonesia and ASEAN countries are expected to be able to accelerate economic digitalization while strengthening global competitiveness amidst the challenges of technology and geopolitics that continue to develop.

According to him, Korean technology is the key to the growth of the digital economy in the region. "ASEAN is entering a new era of digital transformation, and collaboration with Korea is crucial," he said.
