Anime Festival Asia Indonesia 2025 (AFAID25) will feature a concert titled “The Music of Studio Ghibli-Original Singers Symphony” on the last day of the festival held at the Jakarta Convention Center, Central Jakarta, Sunday. SOZO Director, Mari Hendro as the event organizer said that this collaborative concert presents a series of original singers from Studio Ghibli films, accompanied by the Tokyo Asia Orchestra from Japan under the leadership of Concert Master Takeshi Hashima. "Studio Ghibli fans will enjoy performances of iconic songs sung by original singers," said Mari Hendro in Jakarta, Sunday. He said that Yoshikazu Mera will open the concert with an orchestral arrangement that combines his vocals in the style of "Princess Mononoke". Since starting his career in the 1990s, Mera has been known for his deep interpretations of classical vocals, and now he will perform Ghibli themes with a stunning high-pitched voice and vocal technique. Next, Sumi Shimamoto will perform music from “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind,” “My Neighbor Totoro,” “The Castle of Cagliostro,” to “Princess Mononoke.” With experience as a voice actor and singer in six Ghibli films, Shimamoto brings a deep emotional dimension that connects the nostalgia of classic animation with the warmth of a live stage. Then, Azumi Inoue, who has the iconic voice behind the theme songs “Castle in the Sky” and “My Neighbor Totoro,” will pamper fans with her soft and charming vocal timbre. Also performing will be her daughter, Yuyu, who made her singing debut in 2012 on NHK, bringing a new generation touch to the legendary Ghibli vocal family Furthermore, the performances of all the original singers are supported by the Tokyo Asia Orchestra conducted by Takeshi Hashima for the Ghibli music concert series "With a magnificent and precise orchestral music, they will present the scores of Joe Hisaishi and other Ghibli composers in a stunning symphonic format," he said. Mari Hendro added that limited tickets are still available to watch The Music of Studio Ghibli because of the high demand. "Don't miss out because this is your second chance, and maybe your last, to be part of this memorable concert," he said.
