Minister of Culture Fadli Zon put forward the idea of ??presenting what he called the Indonesian Wave, making Indonesian cultural products known abroad like Korean and Japanese culture. "We have a big dream and idea, namely the Indonesian Wave to preserve and introduce culture, including art, music, film, and Indonesian cuisine like the Korean Wave or Japanese Wave," he said as quoted in a ministry press release in Jakarta, Wednesday. The Minister of Culture invited ambassadors to collaborate to introduce and promote Indonesian culture to the international community. In an event titled Sawala Budaya, he invited ambassadors to make culture one of the means to increase cooperation between countries and strengthen cultural diplomacy. He asked ambassadors to facilitate the repatriation of Indonesian cultural heritage objects, encourage the establishment and development of the Indonesian Cultural House (RBI), and encourage cooperation with sister cities with a focus on cooperation in the cultural sector. The Minister of Culture also encouraged ambassadors to facilitate joint production efforts for films, theater, music, and works of fine art as well as cooperation in the revitalization of museums and cultural heritage. In addition, he expressed the importance of support from Indonesian citizens living abroad in an effort to promote Indonesian cultural products to the world community. "Starting from repatriation, agreements, and the Indonesian Cultural House. We need the support of the diaspora in the countries where the ambassadors are assigned," he said. He also stated that the government is encouraging the progress of the domestic film industry and continues to strive to promote Indonesian films abroad. Fadli said that the cultural diplomacy carried out by the government is expected to be able to raise Indonesia's uniqueness in the global arena and expand the nation's strategic influence.
