Kemenhub Has Not Yet Received The Operational Permit Application From Indonesia Airlines

Thursday, 27 Mar 2025

The Indonesian airline, Indonesia Airlines, which specializes in international flights from Singapore, has recently commenced operations. However, the Ministry of Transportation has yet to receive an application for the airline's operational permit.

Acting Director General of Air Transportation, Lukman F. Laisa, stated that Indonesia Airlines must apply for two permits to operate within Indonesia. The first is the establishment permit for a scheduled commercial air transport company, and the second is the operational flight permit for Indonesian airspace.

"We emphasize that as of today, the Directorate General of Air Transportation has not received any applications for the Scheduled Commercial Air Transport Standard Certificate or the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) in the name of Indonesia Airlines," he remarked, as reported by detikFinance on Monday, March 25, 2025.

According to Minister of Transportation Regulation No. PM 35 of 2021 regarding Air Transport Operations, any business intending to conduct scheduled commercial air transport must comply with the applicable licensing requirements and procedures.

This process includes submitting administrative documents, technical completeness, and fulfilling operational aspects before obtaining the Scheduled Commercial Air Transport Standard Certificate. Additionally, airlines are required to possess an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) as stipulated in Minister of Transportation Regulation No. PM 33 of 2022 concerning Civil Aviation Safety Regulations Part 119.

Lukman reiterated that without these two certificates, an airline is prohibited from engaging in scheduled commercial air transport activities in Indonesia.

"All these requirements must be met to ensure safety, security, and service standards for the flying public," Lukman asserted.

The Directorate General of Air Transportation is committed to maintaining strict oversight of airline operations in Indonesia to ensure that all businesses operating comply with national regulations and international aviation safety standards.
