Mobile Credentials And Biometrics Become The New Standard For Digital Security

Friday, 14 Mar 2025

Global companies are increasingly turning to mobile credentials and biometrics as the new standard in digital security systems.

According to HID Global's 2025 Identity and Security Industry Report, 61% of security executives have adopted or plan to adopt these technologies.

The use of biometrics, such as facial, fingerprint, and iris scanning, is also increasing.

HID Global, a technology company based in Austin, Texas, is known as a provider of identification, authentication, and access control solutions.

Their products include access cards, card readers, access management systems, and biometric technologies that are widely used in the security, government, healthcare, and education sectors.

HID Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Ramesh Songukrishnasamy, emphasized that user security and privacy are top priorities in developing their solutions.

"Our products are built with security and privacy as the core principles. It's not just about the products, but how we support our clients and partners in delivering on this promise to their customers," he said in a media briefing session, Tuesday (11/3).

The Benefits of Mobile Credentials and Biometrics

This changing trend is driving many organizations to move away from traditional access methods such as physical cards and PINs.

Mobile credentials allow users to access facilities or systems using only their mobile devices. This technology is more secure because it uses high-level encryption, reducing the risk of losing or counterfeiting physical access cards.

Biometrics offer an additional layer of security by using an individual’s unique characteristics, such as fingerprints and facial recognition. The application of this technology across various sectors improves data protection and operational efficiency.

With increasing security threats and the need for more flexible access systems, HID expects the adoption of this technology to continue to grow.
