Tools For Humanity Unveils Technology Distinguishing Humans From AI

Saturday, 15 Feb 2025

Tools for Humanity has officially launched a technology called 'Proof of Human', a verification system designed to distinguish genuine humans from artificial intelligence (AI) identities on the World platform.

Wafa Taftazani, General Manager of Tools for Humanity Indonesia, stated that the introduction of this technology represents a significant step towards enhancing digital security and anti-bot verification in the country. "World is a system that ensures we are all human, allowing us to prove our humanity online, whether on websites or applications, without the need to share our personal data," Wafa remarked during the launch event in Jakarta on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.

Adrian Ludwig, Chief Information Security Officer of Tools for Humanity, emphasized the importance of confirming an individual's humanity in the current digital age, as the rise of AI has increased threats such as deepfakes, identity theft, and AI-based remote attacks. "This is where World comes in, offering a verification method that ensures online activities remain secure and accessible only to genuine humans," he stated.

The technology relies on World ID, a verification system that can confirm a person's unique identity without collecting or storing personal data. Verification is conducted using Orb, a device capable of detecting whether an individual is a genuine human. This verification process does not require names, addresses, National Identification Numbers (NIK), or any other personal information, making it a breakthrough in digital security while preserving individual privacy.

The launch of World in Indonesia is considered timely, given the surge in AI-based digital crimes. Since 2022, online fraud involving AI has increased by 1,550 percent, while identity theft rose by 25 percent in 2023, resulting in total losses exceeding IDR 500 billion.
