PT Orbit Nasional Edukasi (ONE Indonesia) is organizing the ICStar Hackathon 2024, a technology innovation competition aimed at nurturing young talent from universities to prepare them for technological challenges. Arifa Tan, the founder of ONE Indonesia and CEO of ICSstar Technology Limited, stated that the competition is designed to enhance digital skills and the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI). “The purpose of AI is not to replace human roles but to elevate value. Understanding AI, akin to working with robots, fosters teamwork rather than replacement. We hope ICStar can serve as a partner during this transition, as technology will inevitably advance rapidly worldwide,” Arifa remarked during her address at the ICStar Hackathon 2024 event in Jakarta on Monday. Arifa emphasized that ONE Indonesia prioritizes education and skill development to ensure that Indonesian students are well-equipped to face global digital challenges. In its fifth year, collaboration with the government, industry, and universities provides a clear pathway for students seeking to unlock their potential in the digital realm, encompassing not only information technology but all sectors related to digital utilization. “Many perceive digital as synonymous with IT. However, digital encompasses much more than IT. In this fifth year, we aim to demonstrate that digital capabilities can be harnessed by anyone, and through ICStar, we showcase that the winners are not solely from IT backgrounds,” she explained. She also expressed hope that in the coming years, more industries will engage in fostering technological literacy among students across Indonesian universities, thereby providing equal opportunities and reducing unemployment rates among graduates. The ICStar Hackathon 2024 serves as a technology innovation competition that bridges universities with the industrial sector. This initiative aims to refine participants' abilities in applying cutting-edge technology while preparing them to tackle challenges in the workforce. Out of more than 1,700 registrants, only 86 participants successfully advanced further in this competition. A total of 28 teams from various universities in Indonesia and abroad are now prepared to confront the next challenge. With great enthusiasm, the participants are ready to tackle challenges posed by renowned industry sponsors, including Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, Adira Finance, IDStar, GIT, IFT, UiPath, EZxtract, ICCN, and NACDA.
