, 03 Nov 2024

Agriculture Minister Amran Sulaiman announced that a foreign investor is interested in establishing a dairy farm in Indonesia. He shared this information after a closed meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace on Thursday, October 31, 2024.

Amran reported on the progress of the rice field development project in Central and South Kalimantan. He mentioned that he would visit the sites directly and provide an update to the president after his overseas trip.

He also noted that there is interest from a Vietnamese investor to invest in Indonesia.

"There is an investor from Vietnam for dairy cattle, and we are facilitating their investment in Indonesia," Amran told reporters.

He did not disclose specific details about the Vietnamese investor's plans but stated that the government would prepare land for the dairy farm. The plan includes three locations: Central Sulawesi, South Kalimantan, and South Sulawesi.

"We were recently in Poso, and we discussed this with TH Group, as well as in South Kalimantan," he said.

"For cattle in Poso, we have 12,000 hectares, in South Sulawesi about 20,000 to 30,000 hectares, and in Central Kalimantan possibly 50,000 hectares," he added.

Earlier, in July 2024, the Ministry of Agriculture successfully attracted Vietnamese investment for cattle farming during an official visit by the Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Agriculture and several entrepreneurs.

Cooperation in agriculture was also formalized in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on May 19.

The Director General of Livestock and Animal Health at the Ministry of Agriculture, Agung Suganda, announced plans for an investor from Vietnam to bring 250,000 dairy cows to Poso Regency. It is estimated that this will produce 1.8 million liters of milk annually.

The investment plan from the Vietnamese investor, involving 250,000 cows, is expected to have a significant impact, according to the Ministry of Agriculture's website.
