The Minister of Creative Economy (Menekraf), Teuku Riefky Harsya, stated that West Sumatra (Sumbar), along with 14 other provinces in Indonesia, has been prioritized for the development of the creative economy (ekraf) over the next five years.

"President Prabowo, through the RPJMN, has designated 15 provinces as priorities for creative economy development, one of which is West Sumatra," said Menekraf Teuku Riefky Harsya in Padang City on Saturday during his working visit to Ranah Minang, which included attending the Indonesia Creative City Network (ICCN).

Teuku Riefky mentioned that the designation of Sumbar and other provinces as priorities for ekraf development over the next five years was made after thorough studies and considerations.

Ranah Minang and other provinces are assessed to possess significant potential for developing aspects of ekraf, serving as a key driver for economic growth in the country, particularly in the next five years.

According to Menekraf, a region with strong cultural roots, when combined with innovation and digital technology, can create a vibrant creative economy.

"We see that West Sumatra has the opportunity to make the creative industry one of its economic engines," he added.

However, he emphasized the importance of creative economy entrepreneurs, local governments, and other stakeholders to focus on the quality of the products produced. To penetrate the global market, numerous requirements must be met, particularly concerning quality.

"For West Sumatra's creative economy products to compete in the international market, collaboration with local governments, ICCN, associations, and others is essential," he stated.

Furthermore, he reiterated that higher education institutions and mass media should also be involved to ensure that various creative economy products produced can be accepted on the global stage.
