Monday, 28 Oct 2024

PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI) is once again nurturing outstanding entrepreneurs from Aceh through the BSI Aceh Muslimpreneur (AMP) 2024 program.

The program culminated on October 26, 2024, featuring 12 grand finalists selected from a series of competition evaluations.

BSI Aceh Muslimpreneur is a competition aimed at young entrepreneurs based on Islamic principles in Aceh, designed to enhance the skills and capabilities of business players. This initiative has been running since last year and is specifically tailored to help young entrepreneurs compete not just locally but also on a global scale.

Harry Gusti Utama, the Director of Retail Banking at BSI, expressed his pride in the winners.

"They are the promising seeds of SMEs that we hope will bring significant change to the local and national economy," he said in a press release on Sunday (October 27).

Harry also mentioned that this program opens doors for the youth of Aceh to access global markets.

One of the program's achievements is the collaboration that allows Aceh's SMEs to enter international markets. At the Amazing Indonesia Expo in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, one of BSI's supported SMEs from Takengon successfully gained access to export markets in the Middle East. Additionally, the Sambal Capli SME from Aceh received an order for 29 tons at the BSI International Expo.

The mentoring and financing programs from BSI are expected to boost the contributions of young entrepreneurs in Aceh to local and national economic growth. Harry stated that with the right guidance and the use of technology, young entrepreneurs in Aceh can connect local markets with global opportunities, positioning Aceh as a hub for Islamic economic growth in Indonesia.

According to data from BSI Institute, Aceh has around 914,000 young entrepreneurs, with 406,000 of them aged 15-34, making the region strategic for development.

BSI is all about supporting the MSME sector in Aceh through various initiatives, like the BSI MSME Center, which offers funding, training, and business mentoring.

As of the end of September 2024, BSI has set up four MSME Centers, helping over 4,029 businesses in Aceh, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, and Makassar, with total funding reaching Rp71.67 billion.

The BSI Aceh Muslimpreneur 2024 program has seen a surge in applicants, with more than 2,500 entrepreneurs signing up compared to last year. Participants are categorized into three groups: beginners, scale-ups, and sustainable, with the food & beverages and fashion sectors leading the way.

BSI provides thorough curation, training, and business support for these talented young entrepreneurs.
