BNI Sekuritas Is Teaming Up With TOMORO COFFEE For A Collaboration In The Capital Market School Alongside The Indonesia Stock Exchange

Monday, 21 Oct 2024

BNI Sekuritas has announced a strategic partnership with TOMORO COFFEE for the Market School Program (SPM) in collaboration with the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI). This initiative will take place in major cities across Indonesia from 2024 to 2025. The goal is to boost financial literacy in the country, particularly targeting Millennials and Gen Z.

Teddy Wishadi, SEVP of Retail Markets & Technology at BNI Sekuritas, shared that TOMORO COFFEE was chosen as the SPM partner due to its appeal to younger audiences. “This collaboration aligns with our efforts to enhance education and literacy among the youth, especially as more investors under 40 are emerging from the Millennial and Gen Z demographics,” he stated.

According to data from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) as of June 2024, around 79-80 percent of individual investors in Indonesia's capital market are under 40, with 55.38 percent being under 30. This group manages a total of IDR 50.75 trillion, while those aged 31-40 manage IDR 119.13 trillion, accounting for 24.09 percent of the total market assets.

The 2024 Higo Digital Manual report also highlights that about 66.40 percent of Millennials prefer coffee shops as their go-to hangout spots, while 75.24 percent of Gen Z favor coffee shops over restaurants. This indicates that coffee shops are popular venues for Gen Z to socialize, learn, and work.

Star Yuan, the CEO of TOMORO COFFEE, emphasized, “We are proud to be involved in enhancing financial literacy among the youth. This collaboration reflects our commitment not just to providing quality products, but also to empowering the next generation to better navigate financial challenges.”

This collaborative SPM program will take place every month at various TOMORO COFFEE branches across Indonesia, including areas like Jabodetabek, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Solo, Malang, Surabaya, Bali, Banda Aceh, Pekanbaru, Palembang, Manado, and Makassar. Participants will have the chance to gain free financial literacy and education through direct interactions with market experts in a relaxed and engaging environment. To boost interest and participation, BNI Sekuritas will spice up the event with exciting prizes in the form of customer fund accounts (RDN).

So far, BNI Sekuritas has hosted SPM events at over 10 TOMORO COFFEE branches in major cities, attracting hundreds of participants, and there are plenty more SPM activities lined up.

“This partnership is a crucial step towards creating a generation that understands investment and can tackle future financial challenges. By teaming up with TOMORO COFFEE, we believe we can inspire more young people to get involved in the capital market and make smart financial decisions, ultimately helping them achieve the financial independence they desire,” Teddy concluded.
