Friday, 20 Sep 2024

The vocational education unit of the Ministry of Industry, Politeknik ATI Makassar, has kicked off an international industry collaboration class this year, teaming up with two Japanese companies. Additionally, the college has launched a scholarship program for the development of Human Resources in Palm Oil (SDMPKS) for 2024, in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture. This move aligns with the direction of Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, who emphasizes that vocational education is a best practice for fostering partnerships between industry and education. "We're working on developing vocational education that serves as a best practice for linking education and industry," the Minister stated in Jakarta on Thursday (September 19). The international vocational class at Politeknik ATI Makassar is a follow-up to the signing of an MoU and Cooperation Agreement (PKS) between the Human Resource Development Agency of the Ministry of Industry (BPSDMI) and the two Japanese industry partners, Morimitsu Industry Co, LTD and Asia Africa Research Consulting and Investment (AAI) Co, LTD. "BPSDMI through Politeknik ATI Makassar will provide industrial human resources for these partner companies through internship programs, especially in welding," said BPSDMI Head Masrokhan during the New Student Campus Life Introduction (PKKMB) event for 2024 at Politeknik ATI Makassar recently. A total of 50 selected students from the Agro Industrial Manufacturing Engineering program will be prepared for internships in Japan in 2025. "They will start training in Japanese language and culture, design skills, and welding competencies tailored to the needs of the Japanese industry," Masrokhan explained.

Politeknik ATI Makassar has officially launched a scholarship program for palm oil human resources, training 30 students in the Automation of Machinery Systems program. “Politeknik ATI Makassar is one of 23 universities in Indonesia selected by the Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDPKS) to run the palm oil HR scholarship program for 2024,” he added.

Welcoming 435 New Students

During the 2024 PKKMB event, Politeknik ATI Makassar welcomed 435 new students across four programs: 98 from the Agro Industrial Engineering (TIA) program, 111 from the Agro Industrial Manufacturing Engineering (TMIA) program, 73 from the Mineral Chemical Engineering (TKM) program, and 153 from the Automation of Machinery Systems (OSP) program. Among these new students, 30 are from the OSP program and are recipients of the 2024 palm oil HR scholarship.

The director of Politeknik ATI Makassar, Muhammad Basri, noted a significant increase in applicants for 2024, reaching 9,598, compared to last year. The acceptance ratio stands at 1:22. “The palm oil HR scholarship program has significantly boosted interest this year,” Basri stated.

This achievement was praised by the Head of BPSDMI at the Ministry of Industry. Masrokhan mentioned that all educational units under BPSDMI are challenged to improve their applicant interest with a target ratio of 1:10. “Politeknik ATI Makassar has exceeded that challenge with a ratio better than 1:10,” he added. He also encouraged all new students to engage fully in their studies and strive for achievements that will benefit Politeknik ATI Makassar.
